Seven Transformative Conversations

Conversation One: Recognizing the Negative Cycle
In this first conversation, couples identify negative and destructive remarks in order to get to the root of the problem and figure out what each one is really trying to say.

Conversation Two: Finding the Raw Spots
Here, each partner learns to look beyond immediate, impulsive reactions to figure out what raw spots are being hit.

Conversation Three: Revisiting a Rocky Moment
This conversation provides a platform for de-escalating conflict and repairing rifts in a relationship and building emotional safety.

Conversation Four: Hold Me Tight
The heart of the program: this conversation moves partners into being more accessible, emotionally responsive, and deeply engaged with each other.

Conversation Five: Repairing Injuries
Injuries may be forgiven but they never disappear. Instead, they need to become integrated into couples’ conversations as demonstrations of renewal and connection. Knowing how to find and offer forgiveness empowers couples to strengthen their bond.

Conversation Six: Bonding Through Sex and Touch
Here, couples find how emotional connection creates great sex, and sexual intimacy creates deeper emotional connection.

Conversation Seven: Keeping Your Love Alive
This last conversation is built on the understanding that love is a continual process of losing and finding

emotional connection; it asks couples to be deliberate and mindful about maintaining that connection.

What to Expect

Investing in a couples workshop as a new couple, engaged or newlywed pair is one of the most proactive and rewarding steps you can take for your relationship. These workshops equip you with tools to navigate challenges, communicate effectively, and build a strong foundation rooted in mutual understanding and respect. Think of it as preventative care for your love—addressing potential issues before they arise and fostering a deeper connection that lasts. Prioritize this relationship early!
**This is also a great gift to consider for loved ones and family members who are wanting to learn about creating healthy relationship foundations but might not have the resources to attend.**

For couples who have been together for years, a couples workshop can reignite the spark and strengthen the connection that first brought you together. Over time, life’s demands can lead to communication gaps or unspoken frustrations, but this workshop provides a safe and supportive space to reconnect. You’ll learn new strategies to deepen intimacy, resolve conflicts, and rediscover the joy in your partnership. Whether you’re navigating a rough patch or simply seeking to grow together, this experience can breathe new life into your relationship, fostering a bond that’s resilient and more fulfilling than ever.

We spend Saturday and Sunday, from 9 am to 5:30 pm in a low key, informal setting. The group varies in size but is never larger than 10 couples. We have time to get to know one another, but we do not put anyone on the spot. The format is powerful and effective: part presentation, part exercises (which each couple does in private) and then time for discussion and reflection. You and your partner go at your own pace. We guide you, but we don't push you. You make the progress you are ready and willing to make. The teaching is relevant and timely, with video and PowerPoint visuals, as well as a printed manual. We provide coffee, water, snacks and at lunch, many restaurants surround our venue.

Hold Me Tight® workshops produce proven, positive results that last. You will leave equipped to continue enriching your relationship long after the weekend is over.

Get ready for a powerful experience!

Hold Me Tight® Workshop — Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Hold Me Tight® workshop?
Hold Me Tight® is an educational couples workshop based on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). It helps couples better understand their relationship patterns, strengthen emotional connection, and develop skills for creating a more secure and connected relationship.

Who is the workshop for?
The workshop is designed for any couple who wants to strengthen their relationship, improve communication, deepen emotional connection, or gain a better understanding of recurring patterns in their relationship. Couples do not need to be in crisis to benefit.

Do we need to be having relationship problems to attend?
Not at all. Many couples participate because they want to invest in their relationship and build a stronger foundation. The workshop can be valuable whether your relationship is going well or you are feeling stuck in recurring patterns.

Is this couples therapy?
No. Hold Me Tight® is a structured, educational workshop, not couples therapy. Facilitators guide couples through conversations and exercises designed to help them explore their relationship and strengthen their connection.

Will we have to share personal information with the group?
No. Most of the work happens privately between partners. You will have opportunities to reflect and talk together, but you are not required to share personal details with the larger group.

What will we actually do during the workshop?
The workshop combines brief teaching, guided exercises, reflection, and private conversations between partners. Couples are invited to explore their relationship patterns, understand what happens when they become disconnected, and practice new ways of reaching for and responding to one another.

What if we struggle to communicate?
That is one of the reasons couples find the workshop helpful. The exercises are structured and facilitated so that you can slow down, listen differently, and have conversations that may otherwise feel difficult to navigate on your own.

What if we are in a really difficult place right now?
The workshop can offer useful insights and tools, but it is not intended to replace therapy when a couple is experiencing significant distress or requires individualized support. If you are unsure whether the workshop is appropriate for your relationship, we encourage you to reach out to the facilitators beforehand.

Do both partners need to attend?
Yes, the workshop is designed for couples to participate together, as the exercises and conversations are intended to be experienced as a pair.

What can we expect to take away from the workshop?
Couples often leave with a deeper understanding of their relationship patterns, greater awareness of their emotional needs, and practical tools for responding to one another with greater openness, compassion, and connection.

What makes Hold Me Tight® different from a typical relationship workshop?
Rather than focusing only on communication techniques, Hold Me Tight® explores the emotional connection underneath relationship struggles. Couples learn to recognize patterns that can leave them feeling disconnected and discover ways to create greater security and closeness.

Is the workshop appropriate for couples who have been together for many years?
Absolutely! Long-term couples can benefit from revisiting their emotional connection, understanding longstanding patterns, and finding new ways to turn towards one another.

Is there anything we should do before attending?
Come with an open mind and a willingness to be curious about your relationship and your partner. You do not need to prepare anything in advance.

Will we be the only couple there?

No, to provide the best experience, we only hold the workshops when a minimum number of couples have registered. If we don’t have enough participants, the workshop may be cancelled with at least one week’s notice, and all payments will be fully refunded.

Is this covered by my extended benefits?
Coverage varies depending on your insurance provider and individual plan. Some extended health plans cover counselling services provided by eligible registered professionals, but a psychoeducation workshop may not qualify for reimbursement. This workshop is educational in nature and is not couples counselling or therapy. While the facilitators are trained and available to provide support throughout the workshop, no individual or couples counselling is provided.

We recommend contacting your insurance provider before registering to ask whether psychoeducation workshops or relationship education programs are eligible under your plan.

100% Satisfaction Guarantee

We want you to feel confident investing in your relationship and in the Hold Me Tight® workshop. If, after participating in the workshop, you feel that it did not provide the value you were hoping for, we want to hear from you.

To be eligible for the guarantee, couples must participate in the workshop and speak directly with Matthew Reimer before the workshop concludes on the final day. Matthew will take the time to hear your concerns, answer any questions, and see if there is anything we can do to address any concerns. If, after that conversation, you remain unsatisfied, we will provide a 100% refund of your workshop registration fee.

The guarantee applies to the workshop registration fee only and does not include travel, accommodation, meals, or other related expenses. Refund requests made after the workshop has concluded are not eligible for the guarantee.
